As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 Governorship election in Adamawa State, one name increasingly dominating public discourse is Ahmed Galadima Aminu, the APC governorship candidate whose decades-long public service record is being presented by supporters as evidence of competence, experience and effective leadership.
Unlike many politicians whose campaigns revolve around promises, Ahmed Galadima Aminu’s supporters argue that his strength lies in a verifiable history of service, particularly during his distinguished career at the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), where he rose from the ranks to become the substantive Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer.
His journey through strategic positions in planning, administration, human resources and education earned him national recognition before his appointment as Acting Executive Secretary in 2016 and later substantive Executive Secretary in 2023. Political observers say his rise reflects years of dedication, institutional knowledge and leadership capacity.
Supporters also point to the visible impact of his leadership in Adamawa State. During his tenure overseeing PTDF’s Education and Training Department, numerous educational institutions across the state benefited from infrastructure and capacity-building projects.
Among the projects credited to his leadership are the upgrade of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Modibbo Adama University, the establishment of a Skill Acquisition Centre at Government Technical College, ICT centres at the Federal College of Education, Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Adamawa State Polytechnic Yola and Federal Government Girls College, educational facility development at Federal Science College Michika, an E-Library at Aliyu Musdafa College, and classroom projects facilitated through the AMOSA Class of 1982.
Perhaps one of the most celebrated achievements associated with Ahmed Galadima Aminu’s stewardship is the expansion of PTDF scholarship opportunities for Adamawa indigenes. Records indicate that 608 students from the state benefited from PTDF scholarship programmes during his period of leadership.
The beneficiaries include 204 students under the In-Country Scholarship Scheme comprising 118 undergraduate, 66 master’s and 20 PhD scholars. An additional 404 students benefited from Overseas Scholarships, including 10 undergraduate, 282 master’s and 112 PhD candidates.
Political analysts believe these investments in education and human capital have created lasting opportunities for hundreds of families across Adamawa and contributed significantly to the state’s skilled workforce.
With the 2027 governorship race drawing closer, supporters insist that Ahmed Galadima Aminu represents a leadership built on measurable achievements rather than campaign rhetoric. They argue that his extensive experience in public administration, education, institutional development and human capital investment positions him as a strong contender to lead Adamawa State into a new era of development.
For Ahmed Galadima Aminu’s supporters, however, the message remains clear: his record of service is the foundation of his political appeal, and they believe it offers Adamawa a leadership tested by experience and defined by results.
