Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the local government elections across the state’s 21 local government areas, commending residents for their peaceful and orderly participation in the exercise.
Farauta made the remarks at the Karewa Primary School Polling Unit after inspecting several polling units in and around Yola.
She described the voter turnout as encouraging and impressive, noting that the election process had been largely peaceful in the areas visited.
“I am satisfied with the turnout at the polling units I visited. People conducted themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner while casting their votes,” she said.
“We have gone round to supervise the exercise and ensure that peace and calm prevail across the state.”
The deputy governor emphasized the need for unity among residents, stressing that peaceful coexistence remains essential for the state’s development.
“Adamawa State is one big family. We encourage our people to continue living peacefully together so that development can thrive. On behalf of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, I thank the people of the state for their peaceful conduct during the elections,” she added.
Farauta also urged the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) to maintain professionalism and fairness throughout the electoral process.
At the polling units visited, ADSIEC officials, security personnel, and election materials were observed on ground as voters exercised their civic responsibility.
One of the voters, Fadera Zamta, who cast his ballot at Jambutu Polling Unit 002, said accreditation and voting commenced simultaneously at about 8:00 a.m., adding that election materials arrived on time.
According to him, the timely deployment of materials by ADSIEC contributed to the smooth conduct of the exercise.
Earlier, ADSIEC confirmed the distribution of both sensitive and non-sensitive election materials across the state.
The Commissioner in charge of Logistics and Field Operations, Emmanuel Anuhu Abba, said 11 political parties were participating in the elections, including the SDP, ADC, YPP, AAC, APC, PDP, APP, APM and Labour Party, among others.
The local government elections were conducted across the state under tight security, with electoral officials expressing confidence in the credibility and smooth conduct of the process.
