The Amalgamation of the APC Youth Organization (AAYO) of Adamawa State, under the leadership of Comrade Muhammad Marafa, has held a national press conference in Yola where it strongly dismissed Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s recent statement against Hon. Barr. Aliyu Wakili Boya, Member Representing Fufore-Song Federal Constituency.
Governor Fintiri had reportedly said Boya lacked the capacity to employ over 100 police officers. Reacting, the APC youths described Boya as “the best performing representative member in Adamawa” and insisted that the governor’s comments were borne out of political frustration following the PDP’s loss in the just-concluded Ganye State Assembly bye-election.
Comrade Marafa assured that the APC youths in Adamawa remain loyal to the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and will continue to defend the party’s interest.
The press conference also expressed gratitude to Comrade Mustapha Salihu for empowering 13 APC youths with ₦10 million, noting that such gestures strengthen the party’s grassroots structure. They further commended Hon. Boya for facilitating the Jabbi-Lamban road project, describing it as a milestone in rural development, and thanked the state APC chairman, Barrister Idris Shuaibu, for his steadfast leadership.
Speaking on the recent Ganye bye-election, the youth leaders said the victory has reaffirmed APC’s dominance in Adamawa politics, stressing that the outcome was a clear message that the party remains strong in the state.
The conference, however, raised concerns about transparency in governance, questioning how the ₦500 million support fund from the Nigeria first lady for flood victims in Yola was utilized, as well as 100 billion agric bond.
In his remarks, Hon. Khaleel Sajo emphasized that their struggle is focused on the development of Adamawa State. He appealed to the state government to ensure that the ongoing recruitment exercise reflects the state’s financial capacity in order to guarantee prompt and sustainable payment of salaries.
The press conference ended with a call for unity within the APC and renewed commitment to youth participation in governance.
