Adamawa Approves N135bn Supplementary Budget, Mubi–Maiha Road Project

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a supplementary budget of N135 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, raising the state’s total budget size from N486.2 billion to N621.2 billion.

The approval came during the council’s 18th meeting of the year, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, at the Government House, Yola.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Commissioner of Information and Strategy, James Iliya, said the council also approved N14.9 billion for the reconstruction of the 24-kilometre Mubi–Maiha road, with a completion timeline of 15 months.

In addition, the council endorsed N1.2 billion as counterpart funding for the 2025 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Conditional Grant Scheme (CGS) implementation.

Commissioner of Budget, Emmanuel Pridimso, explained that the supplementary budget was necessitated by additional revenue inflows, enabling the state to sustain ongoing projects while taking on new ones.

On his part, Commissioner of Works and Energy, Adamu Atiku, disclosed that the road contract was awarded to Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited. He noted that although the road is a federal project, the state government intervened due to the hardship faced by citizens. He recalled that the project was last initiated in 2002 but later abandoned.

State Focal Person on SDGs, Muhammad Alfa Raji, stressed that the provision of counterpart funds will boost development initiatives across Adamawa. He urged the federal government to release its own share of funds for smooth implementation of the projects.
