ADAS Programme in Collaboration with Agropedia to Launch Ward-Based Extension Reform to Boost Agribusiness in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Agribusiness Support Programme (ADAS-P) and Agropedia have unveiled a new private-sector driven agricultural extension framework aimed at transforming agribusiness development across Adamawa State.

The initiative, discussed at a strategic follow-up meeting in Yola, is anchored on the establishment of a Horticulture Incubation Hub to enhance productivity, enterprise growth and value chain integration.

The partners formally adopted the name Ward Community-Based Extension Enterprises (WCBEES) for the initiative, which will decentralize extension services to the ward level and promote community-driven agribusiness operations.

A digital traceability system was also proposed to track farm activities from input supply to market delivery, ensuring transparency, accountability and compliance with quality standards.

To support implementation, potential funding sources identified include the Islamic Development Bank and the National Agricultural Development Fund, alongside other development partners. Existing government warehouses and twelve upgraded markets will be leveraged for aggregation, storage and market linkages, while Agropedia is expected to develop a five-year financial framework ahead of the next review meeting scheduled for February 18, 2026.
