Adamawa PHC Executive Chairman Honoured with Award of Excellence

Professor Sulaiman Saidu Bashir, Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA), has been recognised with an Award of Excellence in acknowledgement of his outstanding contributions to primary healthcare delivery in the state.

The honour reflects what observers describe as a well-earned recognition of Professor Bashir’s leadership, which has strengthened institutions and improved access to essential services, particularly for vulnerable communities across Adamawa State.

Under his stewardship, the Agency has recorded significant advancements aligned with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s development agenda of “leaving no one behind and leaving nothing untouched.” This has been most visible in the transformation of the primary healthcare system.

Within a span of less than two years, the State Government, through ASPHCDA, has revitalised and constructed more than 80 Primary Healthcare Centres across Adamawa, many located in rural and hard-to-reach communities.

The centres, officials say, represent more than physical infrastructure; they embody renewed hope, improved access, and restored dignity for families who previously struggled to obtain basic healthcare services.

The initiative forms part of a broader state-wide plan to equip all 226 wards with modern, solar-powered Primary Healthcare Centres complete with staff quarters, aimed at bringing quality healthcare closer to underserved populations.

To date, over 80 fully completed centres—each fitted with staff accommodation and solar power—have been successfully delivered and funded by the Adamawa State Government.

According to government sources, further updates, photographs, and beneficiary testimonies will be released in the coming days to highlight the impact of the initiative on local communities.
