Lamurde Crises: 3 Killed, 2 Arrested as Adamawa Police Crack Down on Renewed Communal Violence
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the renewed communal violence in Lamurde Local Government Area, which claimed the lives of three women and heightened tensions between Bachama and Chobo communities.
According to a Police press release issued on Saturday January 4, 2026, victims were allegedly attacked and killed on Friday, January 3, 2026, while working on their farm around Tigno village.
The attack was reportedly carried out by suspected Bachama youths amid the long-running communal dispute in the area.
The suspects, identified as William Joshua (30) and Ezekiel Luka (23), both residents of Tigno, Lamurde LGA were apprehended following what Police described as “credible and actionable intelligence.”
A preliminary investigation led to the recovery of 29 rounds of live ammunition, one AK-47 rifle magazine, ₦90,000 in cash, and other items believed to be connected to the crime.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC (+), condemned the killings and appealed to residents of Lamurde and adjoining communities to remain calm and law-abiding. He assured the public that the Command is committed to using all lawful means to identify, arrest, and prosecute not only the direct perpetrators but also those who instigated the violence.
“The suspects currently in custody are cooperating with investigators as efforts continue to unravel the full circumstances surrounding the incident,” the Police said.
The Adamawa State Police Command reaffirmed its resolve to restore peace and prevent further escalation of the conflict, adding that additional updates would be provided as investigations progress.
