The Director-General of the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), Dr. Michael Zira, has reiterated his agency’s commitment to placing Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) at the forefront of all empowerment and livelihood support programmes under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration.

Dr. Zira made this known in his office in Yola during a courtesy visit by the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Adamawa State Chapter, where he emphasized the Fintiri administration’s unwavering resolve to make inclusivity a hallmark of its poverty alleviation agenda.

According to him, the Fintiri Business Wallet Programme, a flagship initiative designed to promote small-scale enterprise and economic self-reliance has earmarked PWDs as one of its core beneficiary groups. He assured the association of equitable representation and accessibility in the next phase of the scheme.

“We are determined to ensure that no one is left behind. Persons Living with Disabilities will continue to receive priority in all our empowerment interventions,” Dr. Zira stated.

He also decried the rise in social vices among youths, attributing it to idleness and poor upbringing, and underscored the need for sustainable empowerment programmes to channel youthful energy into productive ventures.

Commending Governor Fintiri’s ongoing strides in infrastructure, human capital development, and social welfare, the DG called for peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and fairness among people of different faiths and backgrounds to foster collective progress across the state.
