Adamawa Police Debunk Fake Report on Alleged Beheading of CAN Chairman

The Adamawa State Police Command has dismissed as false and inciting a viral social media post alleging that the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state was beheaded by Fulani terrorists.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, the Command described the report, circulated by one Lionman Lioni on Facebook, as the handiwork of mischief-makers aimed at creating panic, tension, and religious disaffection among peace-loving residents.

“There is no such incident recorded anywhere in Adamawa State,” the statement affirmed, emphasizing that the post was entirely fabricated to mislead the public.

The Commissioner of Police urged members of the public to disregard the false report and always verify information from credible sources before sharing on social media.

The statement further disclosed that the Command has launched an investigation to identify and prosecute those behind the fake publication.
