YOLA, Nigeria — It was an evening of elegance, emotion, and heartfelt tributes at the Adamawa State Banquet Hall as dignitaries, family, and friends gathered to celebrate Her Excellency, Hajiya Dr. Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, for her outstanding achievements and recognitions both at home and abroad.
The First Lady of Adamawa State was recently named Best First Lady in Nigeria for Health Care and Women’s Empowerment and conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration by the London Bridge Business School (LBBS), United Kingdom — twin honours that coincided with her birthday celebration.
The night of festivities was further brightened by the presence of her husband, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who shares the same birth date, creating a rare moment of “double joy” for the couple.
The dinner, hosted by friends and admirers, brought together a distinguished audience that included Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa G. Farauta, members of the State Executive Council, lawmakers, local government chairmen, and women leaders from across all 21 Local Government Areas.
The Governor and his wife jointly cut their birthday cake amid cheers and applause, in a moment coordinated by the Deputy Governor — a symbolic act that captured the warmth of the evening.
In his remarks, Governor Fintiri thanked the women of Adamawa for their unwavering support for his wife’s humanitarian work. He announced that he would mark his own birthday with visits to orphanages and hospitals in Yola, reaffirming his “commitment to compassion and service.”

In a welcome address, Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday praised the First Lady’s transformational work in health, women’s empowerment, and education, describing her as “a beacon of purposeful leadership.”
The ALGON Chairman and Executive Chairman of Toungo Local Government Area, Hon. Suleiman Ahmed Gangkuba, also commended her compassion and dedication, noting that her programs have touched lives in every part of the state.
