Adamawa Govt Reopens Private College of Health Technology, Gives Conditions for Others

In a decisive move to strengthen the quality of healthcare education in Adamawa State, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved new directives regulating the operations of private Colleges of Health Technology across the state.

Following a comprehensive review by the Committee on the Establishment of Private Colleges of Health Technology, the governor approved the reopening of Sa’adatu College of Health Technology, Mubi, having met the minimum requirements set by the state government.

However, eight other institutions have been given a six to twelve-month window to improve their infrastructure, staffing, and accreditation status before they can resume full operations. The affected colleges include:

1. Savannah College of Health Science and Technology, Yola

2. Central College of Health Science and Technology, Yola

3. School of Health Technology, Jimeta

4. NAFAN College of Health Science and Technology, Jimeta

5. School of Health Technology, Mayo Belwa

6. Humanity College of Health Science and Technology, Hong

7. Abubakar Isa Ahmadu College of Health Science and Technology, Mubi.

8. EYN Brethren College of Health Technology, Garkida

Meanwhile, 15 institutions that failed to meet the basic minimum requirements will remain permanently closed pending further directives. These include:

1. Fat-Hur Rahman College of Health Science and Technology, Yola

2. College of Health Technology, Yola (Al-Mashkur International Academy)

3. KSOHT School of Health and Technology, Yola

4. Bell Dome College of Health Science and Technology, Wauru Jabbe

5. Guyuk College of Health Science and Technology, Guyuk

6. College of Health Technology, Daura Shelleng

7. College of Administration and Human Resource Management, Bambam Gombe State Numan Campus

8. City Gate College of Health Science and Technology, Demsa

9. Dr. Umar Adamu Sanda Sugu College of Health Science and Technology, Ganye

10. School of Health Technology, Jada

11. Tikos and Kings College of Science and Technology, Michika

12. Royal Intellect College of Sciences and Technology, Michika

13. Professor Jibril Aminu College of Health Science and Technology, Song

14. Luther College of Health and Remedial Science, Numan

15. Pan-Africa College of Health Science and Technology, Gombi

Governor Fintiri in a press statement signed his Chief Press Secretary Humwahashi Wonosikou, emphasized that the action was taken to safeguard educational standards and protect public health, ensuring that only credible institutions produce qualified health professionals for the state and the nation.

> “The state government will not compromise on quality. Every college must meet the minimum standards in infrastructure, staffing, and accreditation before being allowed to operate,” Fintiri stated.

He further directed the Ministry of Health and Human Services to carry out a final compliance assessment before the reopening of any institution that has been given the grace period.

The governor’s directive marks a renewed effort by the Adamawa State Government to reposition the health education sector for excellence and sustainability.
