PAWECA Sets Up Technical Committee to Drive “Fintiri from Retirement to Wealth” Programme

The Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) has inaugurated a nine-man Technical Committee to assess and cost the rollout of the “Fintiri from Retirement to Wealth” programme across Adamawa State.

The committee was constituted following reports from teams that assessed livestock centres across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

Speaking during the inauguration, PAWECA Director-General, Dr. Michael Zira, said the committee would evaluate existing facilities, determine the cost of required infrastructure and recommend measures for the immediate commencement of the programme.

He directed the committee to focus on key components, including livestock farming, animal feed production and food processing, while conducting detailed assessments of previously identified centres.

Zira said the committee’s final report would be submitted to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and subsequently developed into a policy document for legislative backing to ensure the programme’s sustainability beyond the present administration.

The committee is chaired by Consultant, Mr. Joseph Jaryum.

According to Zira, the initiative is designed to make Adamawa the first state in Nigeria to deliberately equip civil servants approaching retirement and retirees with practical skills and opportunities for sustainable livelihoods after service.

He urged members of the committee to be focused, proactive and committed to delivering on the assignment, describing the programme as a key component of the administration’s efforts to promote wealth creation and reduce poverty in the state.
