Baba Joda Smart Agric Trains Farmers on Organic Ginger, Turmeric and Garlic with ADAS Programme Support

Baba Joda Smart Agric Multi-Purpose Society has rolled out hands-on training for farmers on the organic cultivation of ginger, turmeric, and garlic, following the receipt of support and offtake assurance from the Adamawa State Agribusiness Development and Support Programme (ADAS-P).

The two-day practical training, held under the society’s initiative to promote smart agriculture, attracted participants eager to adopt sustainable farming practices that improve productivity and guarantee market access. The exercise was linked to the broader ADAS-P agricultural drive, which was officially flagged off by the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State at Benue Valley Farms in Fufore.

Officials of ADAS-P, alongside its Component One team, were invited to witness the training, further strengthening the collaboration between the programme and local farming cooperatives.

According to the organisers, the focus on ginger, turmeric, and garlic reflects both the economic potential of these crops and their growing demand in local and international markets.

Baba Joda Smart Agric assured participants that with the backing of ADAS-P and credible off-takers, smallholder farmers, particularly those within the society, will have increased opportunities for income generation while advancing food security goals in the state.

ADAS-P delegation was led by Dr. Tasiu Yusuf Idi, Head of Component One in charge of Value Chain Development and Climate Smart Agriculture.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude and pledged to utilize the knowledge acquired during the training.
