The Inclusive Basic Services Delivery and Livelihood Empowerment Integrated Programme (IBSDLEIP), funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), has strengthened access to quality basic education in Adamawa State through key interventions in underserved communities.
Speaking during a courtesy visit and official handing-over ceremony at the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), the Project Coordinator and General Manager of RUWASSA, Mr. Esly Emmanuel, revealed that the programme constructed and rehabilitated 10 schools across eight local government areas of the state.
According to him, the project also provided computers, solar-powered lighting systems, seven motorcycles, and capacity-building training for teachers recruited without formal teaching qualifications.
The benefiting communities include Shilon in Song Local Government Area, Ga’da in Gombi, Kwarhi in Hong, Kuburshosho and Kamale in Michika, Kirshinga in Madagali, Peging in Maiha, as well as Vimtim and Muvru in Mubi North.
In his remarks, the Chairman of ADSUBEB, Dr. Murtala Umar Babayi, commended IBSDLEIP and its development partners for their support to the education sector. He stressed the importance of strategic partnerships in expanding access to quality education and assured the team of the Board’s commitment to sustaining and replicating successful interventions across the state.
Dr. Babayi described the programme’s interventions as timely and impactful, noting that they align with the vision of the Adamawa State Government and ADSUBEB to provide safe, inclusive, and conducive learning environments for all children.
Also speaking, ADSUBEB Permanent Member II, Dr. Aliyu Sa’ad, expressed appreciation to the IBSDLEIP team and its partners for their contributions to educational development in Adamawa State. He reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to supporting programmes and partnerships that promote quality basic education and pledged continued cooperation to ensure the sustainability of such interventions.
The handing-over ceremony, held at the Chairman’s office, was witnessed by the Director of School Services, Mrs. Zainab Saleh Michika; the Director of Procurement, Mrs. Rahila S. Gyandi; the Director of Physical Planning, Mr. Dalhatu Mustafa Abb.; and other senior officials of the Board.
