ADAS-P in Partnership with ADACFA Flags Off Spice Input Disbursement to Backyard Farmers

As part of it’s intensified efforts to scale up vegetable and spice production as well as commercialization across Adamawa state, the Adamawa State Agri-Business Support Programme (ADAS-P ) in partnership with the Adamawa State Cooperative Financing Agency (ADACFA) has flagged off the disbursement of the 2025 spice input loan to backyard farmers in Yola south LGA.

This initiative is anchored on a demand-led approach, ensuring that production activities are directly tailored to meet the market requirements of prospective off-takers, thereby bridging the gap between farmers and market opportunities.

Building on the momentum of the recently concluded 2025 Vegetable and Spice Train-the-Trainer and Capacity Building Programme, ADAS-P is roll out a robust support package designed to empower farmers with the necessary tools and resources for enhanced productivity.

This is implemented through the Adamawa State Agri-Business Cooperative Financing Agency (ADACFA). The financing scheme will covered critical inputs such as improved spice seeds, quality herbicides, and organic fertilizers, which are essential for sustainable production and improved yields.

This intervention is strategically targeted at female-headed households and smallholder farmers, recognizing their pivotal role in food production and household nutrition. By reducing the financial burden of production costs through accessible credit input financing, the programme seeks to ease entry barriers, promote inclusiveness, and encourage more women to actively engage in agribusiness ventures.

Furthermore, the initiative aims to fast-track the cultivation of spices and vegetables, ensuring that farmers are able to respond promptly to seasonal demands and meet the supply expectations of off-takers.

Speaking at the event, Musa Hamman Adama, the Executive Secretary of ADACFA who doubles as the head of component four of ADAS Programme said they are targeting 10,000 farmers to be supported within the state.

In his remarks, Mbasiti Swadc of the IITA who congratulates the beneficiaries, urged them to properly utilize the opportunity.

Also speaking, Luscious Shedrack, Asst. Head of Component four of ADAS Programme, appeal for them to adhere strictly to the guidelines given to them during the training.

Speaking Seperately on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Dora Donald Alahira and Hauwa Inuwa who thanked ADAS-P and ADACFA for the support and promised justify the confidence reposed in them by promptly refunding the loan.
