Gambo Nakura Remanded in Prison Custody Over Character Defamation Against NSA Ribadu, Aisha Buhari, Others
A Chief Magistrate Court in Yola, Adamawa State, has remanded Hon. Husseini Bello Gambo Nakura in prison custody over allegations of defamation of character, use of insulting and abusive language, disturbance of public peace, and inciting disturbance.
Nakura, Chairman of Concerned Citizens Adamawa State, was arraigned before the court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court, presided over by Magistrate M. A. Adamu, granted him bail but with a stringent condition: his surety must be the Chairman of Yola North Local Government Area.
The allegations against Nakura stem from an interview he granted to an online TV station in Hausa language, (RAJ Online TV) where he allegedly made inciting and defamatory utterances against prominent personalities in Adamawa State. The affected individuals include: Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser, Aisha Buhari, wife of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Dr. Modi Halilu, Barr. Comrade Mustapha Salihu, National Vice Chairman APC Northeast Zone.
The prosecution alleged that Nakura’s utterances were capable of destroying the political future of these individuals, causing chaos, breaching public peace, and denting their political party’s reputation.
In an interview with “The Trumpet News Reporter” Nakura’s lawyer has announced plans to take the next necessary steps, while the prosecutor has declined to comment further. The case has been adjourned to September 17, 2025, for the commencement of hearing.
